bride and groom kissing with miniature horses at Linwood Farm, Clarens

Where should I have my wedding ceremony and reception is one of the most commonly asked questions by wedding couples. Should it be close to home? Should it be a reflection of our personalities? In the case of Marius and Sunee they decided to realise a dream. A dream of a wedding between mountains, with horses and with their closest family and friends. They decided Clarens a small village in the Free State of South Africa will be perfect. As they wanted to have a cowboy themed wedding they decided on the intimate wedding venue of Linwood Farm. Clarens proved to be the ideal destination wedding location.

With mist hanging over the valley, the wedding day started with a soft rain. The family were all present at the venue, eating breakfast, laughing and enjoying the fresh morning air. Sunee was in her room getting ready, relaxed and beautiful. As usual we started with the wedding photography at the chapel and reception area. This ensure beautiful detail pictures of all the elements of the wedding. The table placements was a key stand with old keys with labels indicating on which table each couple are seated. The gifts for the guest beautiful key rings and flasks. The barn style hall with bales, blue and red colour, wooden table names and personalised “wanted” or “jailed” bottles added the extra touch of cowboy.

The groom, Marius, true to the theme had an imported cowboy hat, leather jacket and boots, horse shoe cufflinks and a horse head cowboy cravat. He was visibly nervous as time gone by and he was to be wed to the love of his life… While waiting in the chapel, decorated with bales as chairs and checked material, his face lit up in a smile when his bride appeared. Stealing glances at one another during the ceremony, one can not help but notice the love they feel…

The ring bearer was a beautiful miniature horse, the wedding vehicle a horse drawn carriage. The rain stopped as the ceremony end and we where able to get a few beautiful couple photographs. My favourite will be the one with the miniature horses and the kiss underneath the rainbow. What a perfect symbol of promise to start your married live with…
